22 Aug What Men Should Wear this Wedding Season
Reading time: 6 minutes
When summer rolls around, that means wedding season is upon us and many occasions are coming up fast! Weddings are a lot of fun, but picking what to wear depending on the setting isn’t as much. There is an array of different types of weddings, all of which may require a specific style. From beach occasions, to black tie events, this blog post breaks down what to wear for each type of wedding and where to shop for affordable suits.
What can you wear to a wedding on the beach?
A linen suit is the most appropriate attire for a summer wedding by the water because linen is a breathable fabric, but also gives your outfit a relaxed look.
Beach weddings are typically more casual, which is why a beautiful white linen short sleeve button up, paired with light beige linen pants and a linen blazer should be your go-to combination for a seaside wedding.
Not to mention linen pieces are normally nice quality. The best part about this look is you won’t even need to wear a pair of shoes to complete the outfit!
Where can you find quality linen clothing at a reasonable price?
I have seen in the past nice linen pieces at a low cost at Topman. For a particularly superior linen fabric quality, be sure to catch a Ralph Lauren sale or outlet store.
The quality feels luxurious against your skin, but the price won’t be as frightening as it may have been prior to the sale.
Another great brand for linen clothing is Banana Republic. Their linen suits revolve around $300, but are always stylish and will last you a few years.
What about the attire at a rustic wedding?
The kind of wedding where you know it’s formal, but the dress code specifications are slightly ambiguous, is definitely more laid back than a black tie event, but dressier than a beach wedding.
You won’t be pulling out your linen suits here, but you CAN get away with a simple suit and no tie.
I recommend colors along the lines of champagne, grey or royal blue because all three stand out and are summer appropriate.
These colors also happen to look amazing against a golden tan.
Furthermore, as much a solid color suit is a nice option for summer, another one is a pinstripe suit like the one Alex is wearing in the pictures.
Where can you buy a nice suit without spending thousands of dollars?
Simon’s is a great Montreal based store with an entire section dedicated to suits.
They even have an on hand tailor to customize the suit if it needs alterations. Surmesur is another Montreal boutique that specializes in custom tailored suits and dress shirts. They even have the added option to add initials to your dress shirts for that uniquely personal touch.
The last spot you can scope out for a lovely suit is Suitsupply.
Although this store is on the pricier side, they offer beautifully cut suits and modern options starting at around $500.
Do you have a black tie wedding? No problem!
Although you cannot get invited to a fancier wedding than one that is black tie, it’s also the simplest dress code to follow because it’s extremely specific.
What you should wear is a tuxedo. A tuxedo requires a white dress shirt, an evening waistcoat, a dinner jacket with lapels of a different shade of black from the rest of the jacket and most importantly, a bow tie.
You should finish off the tux by pairing it with a classic pair of black leather oxford shoes. It truly can’t get classier than this.
Where can you get one of these fancy ensembles without breaking the bank?
Who wouldn’t want to look sharp for am wedding, especially as an elegant young professional, am I right?
Hope you enjoyed the blog post and don’t hesitate to share it on Facebook! It helps me out tremendously 🙂
