22 Aug Wear This for After Work Cocktails in the Heat

Do you tend to get uncomfortable in your office wear at the bar?
Do you hate sipping on a cocktail on a terrace after work in July while sweating under the beaming sun? Trust me, I’ve been there.
Check out my go-to tips on how to avoid the discomfort and my 3 outfit examples that’ll help you decide what to wear in the heat.
Tip # 1: Any item of clothing with a flow or airy feel will be your saviour.
A pair of loose pants, a flowy skirt, or even a delicate dress are all great pieces to wear to work and to wear in the heat afterwards.
Loose items will allow your skin to breath, preventing your clothing from sticking to your body after being seated for a while.
Tip # 2: Wear your favorite pair of comfortable shoes.
When it comes to making plans after work, it’s no secret you’ll have to walk to the bar in question if you work downtown.
Save yourself the trouble of bringing many pairs of shoes with you. Simply wear a pair of ballerina flats or heels you know you can walk in all day and into the evening.
Not only will this protect your feet from unnecessary pain, but it will also save you the trouble of having to carry more items around with you after work (i.e. two pair of shoes!!).
There’s nothing worse than going to a crowded event and carrying a handful of heavy bags with you.
Tip # 3: Dress in layers for your entire day.
Dressing in layers can give you a lot more leeway regarding your comfort in different temperatures.
You can protect yourself from the blasting AC at the office, as well as avoid getting overheated in the sun after work.
To master this, you need to wear layers such as a blouse or a dress underneath a cardigan or blazer, which can simply be taken off during cocktail hour.
A few ways you can wear layers are:
The first way is by wearing a short sleeve blouse underneath a blazer. The blazer you can easily take it off when it starts getting warm.
A blouse like that is especially a great idea in this setting because you’ll still look appropriate (your shoulders being covered), but you won’t be feeling the heat as much.
The second way is by wearing a dress covered by a cardigan. During the day, it’s an easy option for an after work event in the heat as well.
The dress will be more breathable than a pair of pants, and the cardigan can be easily taken off.
The third way is by wearing a light sweater over a short sleeve button-up top with a collar. I then paired it with a pair of capri pants.
This combination is another option to make the indoor/outdoor weather transition smooth.
The heat can really get to us once in awhile. It’s important to know how to beat it and to still look good on a hot summer day as an elegant young professional.
