AZ: Can you describe what GOSS is all about?

RP: GOSS is an international movement meant to inspire and empower leaders. We find talent, showcase it and promote it to different industries. Our motto is : Become your brand. Especially nowadays where marketing campaigns have become all about branding. We truly believe the essence of a company lives at the core of the person / founder behind it.

AZ: When did you get the idea to start a blog that encourages girl bosses, and what made you transition to a print magazine?

RP: I started my first business when I was 19 years old, and was surprised that me and my former business partner were the only two women in conference rooms. I was looking for an outlet or place to meet and networking with other women, get advice, mentorship etc. There was nothing like it… that’s what birthed GOSS Club.

The print magazine came shortly after to share all the inspiring content we had accumulated with the world.

AZ: What’s your number one tip for someone that doesn’t know where to begin when building their brand?

RP: Start with your WHY. Simon Sinek has a really great book that talks about this. I believe it 100%. Your brand identity and core values will come out naturally as you grow, but start by planting a seed for your bigger picture.

AZ: Can you walk us through the first meeting you ever had for the purpose of growing GOSS?

RP: My first “real” meeting was with the W Hotel Montreal’s PR team. I’ll never forget getting an email from them saying they wanted to work with GOSS Club… I literally screamed of joy. The W is one of my favorite brands and to be able to collaborate with them was a dream. Now they have become a brand partner of ours worldwide, as well as many others… which is surreal.

AZ: Considering finding confidence can be a struggle for some young entrepreneurs, what are the methods you use to overcome the fear of rejection?

RP: I don’t have any fears. I believe in patience and perseverance. If someone “rejects” you it’s never personal. There are a million reasons why you get a “NO”. It can be that your brand doesn’t match theirs at the moment, that your company is too young and needs more experience, that your pitch sucks LOL. These are all examples to take home, review and do better next time. Don’t give up or accept defeat. Come back better and stronger. That’s my #1 rule.

I approached a brand cold calling and got a “were not interested”. 4 months later they came back to me because of a reference from another trusted brand that I worked with.

AZ: Does dressing professionally for work matter to you?

RP: 100%. You are judged the minute you walk into that door, so you better dress to impress every single time. Heels, blazer and trousers is my go-to look. Don’t show cleavage, keep your skirt under your knees and always smile 😉

AZ: Which brands are your go-to’s for workwear and how often do you refresh your corporate wardrobe?

RP: LOVE Judith & Charles and Zara International whenever I’m out of town. However, I wear mostly custom by Mavra Toufidis, Yannick Machado, Stella Lam and Joel Epstein. Every 3 months is my usual season change.

AZ: Considering you travel so much for work, how do you manage to pack efficiently, and what are your travel secrets?

RP: I travel light. My rule is if it’s bigger than a carry on luggage, drop it. I bring the essentials: black T-shirt, trousers, blazer, 2 pairs of heels, running shoes and the rest I buy at the location I go to. I always get a blow dry, it’s my business / vacation ritual and a good way to see different styles from all over the world.

AZ: What is an essential part of your getting ready routine everyday?

RP: Coconut rub. After my shower I do 15-20 minutes of oiling my body head to toe and then towel dry. I don’t use any other products on my face. Then I drink a hot water with lemon.

AZ: What can we expect from GOSS in the coming months.

RP: Our next concept shows / Luxury Lifestyle Tour will occur in Montreal, Shanghai, Aspen, London and Hong Kong. Of course, our upcoming magazine as well. Lots of exciting new collaborations in the making, and we can’t wait!

Stay Gossy X
