This chino look gives new meaning to the term “business casual”. Traditionally, this type of pant is made of cotton or a cotton blend and can be found in a straight or tailored cut. Chinos also scream approachable, yet professional.

The best colours for chinos are neutrals like pearl grey, beige and navy. Additionally, you can dress this look up or down.

Moreover, wear deck shoes and a polo shirt for a winning combination on casual Fridays. However, for a more polished look, wear a dress shirt, loafers and an understated, solid coloured tie.

Furthermore, a slim fitting dress shirt complements chinos every time and is paired with a tie. For a more casual look, omit the tie.

When you choose a coloured shirt, keep in mind the shade of the chinos. Navy pants work with a pale coloured shirt. If the shirt has a pattern with multiple colours, look for one tone in the shirt that will flatter the colour of the pants.

Beige or pearl grey chinos, on the other hand, marry well with light to medium tone shirts.

Jeans are a staple for any wardrobe and black spells chic. However, if your jeans have holes or zippers at the office, there goes all credibility!

Just like the chinos, jeans come in all shapes and sizes. Straight legged and slim cut are the classic, timeless styles and are the most flattering as well. These too can be worn dressed up or down.

Additionally, they also tend to look great with either a polo or long sleeve shirt for a more formal look.

Moreover, if worn with a shirt, a sports coat and tie are the perfect add-ons. When choosing a blazer, black and textured fabrics will make the outfit pop. Adding a little colour in either the shirt, tie or pocket square will make the ensemble sing.

Since the theme here is black, a black belt and shoes complete the set.

Ah, yes…the time-honoured office attire. Trousers, a.k.a. dress pants are no longer required to be worn with a blazer. However, for the office, wear them with a suit.

They can be sported with a dress shirt and with or without a tie for a young, business professional look.

This type of pant is available in a wool or wool blend, depending on one’s price point. Much like the two others, it can also be purchased in a straight leg or slim fit.

It’s always best to choose timeless colours for versatility and to inject interest with the paired accessories. Grey, navy, beige and black are the shades of choice.

Moreover, patterns are another way to add alternatives to the mix. For example, herringbone, pinstripes, Glen plaid and bird’s eye are all great pattern alternatives. If a bolder pattern is used, wear solid colours in the rest of the outfit to create a great balance to the overall costume.

For those that prefer a more monochromatic regalia, the insertion of a little pattern and/or colour will add interest to your costume.

Like chinos, trousers can be obtained with flat front or pleats.

To complete the kit, complementary shoe, belt, tie and/or pocket square are the icing on the cake.
