Reading time: 3 minutes
Getting ready to start buying all of your holiday gifts? Great! You’ll definitely want to tackle the stores with a clear holiday shopping guide.
Your guide will not only make the difference on your wallet, but it’ll help reduce that holiday stress you’re feeling too!
Keep reading to find out how to shop the right way this holiday season and get organized when it comes to buying all of your gifts.
Tip # 1 Start Building a List Early
The earlier your list is made, the earlier you can start shopping.
This is the key for getting organized. Starting early is what actually makes all the difference in how productive and efficient your shopping will be.
Ask your kids and your loved ones what they want to receive in early November.
If they don’t give you a list until late December, build your list with the little gifts first.
For example, you can figure out which stocking stuffers you want to buy for your kids, which gifts you want to give to teachers and which presents to buy relatives.
Tip # 2 Capitalize on Black Friday’s Online Sales
Building a list early in November also allows you to buy things on sale when Black Friday/Cyber Monday hits.
There’s nothing worse than going to stand in line at the store for gifts during this sale. That’s why, I definitely suggest you do all of your purchasing online, from the comfort of your home computer.
This is such an easy way to tick items off of your list quickly while saving money.
Tip # 3 Use Your Amazon Prime
Use Amazon Prime for any last minute gifts you’re going to need. If you get invited to a holiday dinner party last minute or if you forgot to get someone a gift, prime it!
Don’t waste your time searching for a gift in the store. It’ll be overwhelming and hard to navigate.
Tip # 4 Make a Shopping Plan
Once you’ve purchased as many presents as possible online, you should make a shopping plan for everything you need to get in person.
Outline which stores you need to tackle and what you need to purchase for each one. As well, you should block time off in your schedule for when you’re going to go and buy which item.
If you can, call ahead of time and reserve the item at the cash. That way, all you need to do is head straight for the cash register and purchase your item.
Now THAT’s efficient shopping!
Tip # 5 Shop at Awkward Times.
If you’re at the office all day but you need to get some shopping done, eat your lunch at your desk at 12pm and then take your break around 1:30 pm.
That way, you can slip out for an hour and shop when the stores are a little less crowded, while you respect your work hours.
If the afternoon doesn’t work as well for you, take your break in the morning around 10 am.
Furthermore, if you can allow yourself to do so, take one day off during the week (I suggest Monday), and get everything done during this one day.
Yes you lose one day of work but you save yourself stress, as you won’t be scrambling for gifts last minute.
